The Story in 60 Seconds

Veteran forward Evander Kane is preparing to head overseas to sign with an unspecified Kontinental Hockey League team, his agent Dan Milstein confirmed on DFO Insider. Milstein indicated that a formal announcement regarding the deal will be made in the coming days. The move strongly suggests that the 35-year-old will not return to the NHL following the expiration of his tenure with the Vancouver Canucks.

Kane spent 16 seasons in the NHL after being selected fourth overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2009. Over 1,001 career regular-season games with Atlanta, the Winnipeg Jets, Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, Edmonton Oilers, and Canucks, the winger recorded 339 goals and 648 points. He previously played overseas in the KHL for Dynamo Minsk during the 2012-13 NHL lockout.
