Former UFC lightweight title challenger Michael Chandler made his WWE debut on Wednesday night as a special guest referee on NXT. During an unsanctioned match on November 4 between Dion Lennox and Cruz Montana, Chandler was shoved the length of the ring by Lennox after attempting to intervene in a corner attack. Following the physical interaction, Chandler returned to his feet and had a tense face-off with Lennox.
Chandler's wrestling appearance comes amid uncertainty surrounding his mixed martial arts career following a four-fight losing skid in the UFC. The 40-year-old previously revealed talks with WWE executive Triple H in 2025 regarding a potential venture into professional wrestling.
