Manchester United are reportedly exploring a deal to sign Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to Football Insider. With Benjamin Sesko sidelined until January due to a shin injury and Joshua Zirkzee out of favor under Michael Carrick, United are looking to reinforce their attack. Crystal Palace are reportedly ready to sell the 29-year-old forward in the January transfer window to prevent losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Mateta, who is valued at around £25m, has scored just one goal in six appearances this season but has previously netted over 15 goals in three consecutive campaigns. Although Palace may be open to a sale, the report notes concerns exist regarding the player's character after he pushed to leave Selhurst Park in recent months.
