The New York Knicks had to release a statement on Friday, walking back comments from Kolek calling Swift the fakest celebrity Knicks fan.
The New York Knicks issued a statement backing Taylor Swift after rookie guard Tyler Kolek called her celebrity fandom "performative." The organization emphasized that Swift has been a dedicated fan for years and has a long history with Madison Square Garden, expressing deep appreciation for her continued support of the team.
Kolek made the remarks during an NBA 2K League TikTok livestream alongside teammate Deuce McBride when asked to identify the fakest celebrity fan. Kolek referenced Swift's courtside presence during the NBA Finals, noting that she had previously supported the Cleveland Cavaliers alongside Travis Kelce in the Eastern Conference Finals.
