Arsenal have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of Santos forward Ignacio Pereira after the 16-year-old signed his first professional contract. Pereira, who has drawn comparisons in Brazilian media to Julian Alvarez, committed his long-term future to Santos through 2029 with a reported release clause of €100million (£83.4m).

The new permanent terms and substantial buyout clause make an Arsenal transfer extremely unlikely. The Gunners had previously sought forward additions following the permanent departures of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Jesus.
