Everton mounted a second-half comeback to defeat Coventry City 3-1 at Hill Dickinson Stadium in the Premier League. After Yann Gboho put Frank Lampard's visiting side ahead, Thierno Barry scored two quick goals before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall added a late third to secure Everton's third consecutive victory. The win lifted David Moyes's team to fifth place in the table as Moyes equalled Harry Catterick's record of 592 matches managed for the club.
Coventry saw two penalty claims turned down by referee Stuart Attwell and VAR, including a James Tarkowski hair-pull and a Vitaliy Mykolenko challenge. Barry equalised with a firm header from a Mykolenko cross before bundling in a controversial second goal that appeared to strike his arm. Barry later assisted Dewsbury-Hall's final goal to seal the win.
