After winning the NBA Championship, the Knicks may not have the same hunger to repeat. A certain group of players on their roster, however, should.

Daily Knicks writer Kris Pursiainen argues that new additions Dalton Knecht, Andre Drummond, and James Wiseman provide the New York Knicks with motivated role players needed to combat a championship hangover. After dropping their first three games of the 2026-27 season, the Knicks played Knecht against the Chicago Bulls, where the two-way signing recorded 10 points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes.
Pursiainen notes each player enters the season with something to prove following offseason hurdles, including Knecht being cut by the Los Angeles Lakers. Drummond entered free agency expecting higher-value offers before settling for the veteran's minimum, while Wiseman secured a roster spot during training camp after previously exploring opportunities to play abroad.
