On November 6, the Los Angeles Dodgers commemorate two major franchise milestones: hiring Farhan Zaidi as general manager in 2014 and Mike Marshall winning the 1974 Cy Young Award. Zaidi served alongside Andrew Friedman from 2015 to 2018, overseeing four consecutive NL West titles, two NL pennants, and an MLB-best 379-270 record before eventually joining the San Francisco Giants and later returning as a special advisor in 2025.
Also on this date in 1974, reliever Mike Marshall made history by becoming the first relief pitcher to capture the Cy Young Award. Marshall set major league relief records that season with 206 innings pitched, 106 appearances, 14 consecutive games, and 83 games finished.
