No. 12 Sun Valley Poly earns City Section Division I upset over No. 5 Marshall

No. 12-seeded Sun Valley Poly upset fifth-seeded Marshall 20-0 in the opening round of the City Section Division I football playoffs on Friday. Poly broke the game open early when King Exusdus scored on an 82-yard touchdown run on their third offensive play. The victory advanced the Parrots to the Division I quarterfinals to face either Chatsworth or Banning.

Marshall entered the contest 10-0 but struggled as starting quarterback Nathaniel Cadet battled a sprained AC shoulder joint, passing for only 55 yards and two interceptions. Poly's run-heavy double-wing offense dominated behind Exusdus's 174 rushing yards, while quarterback Alijah Ochoa connected with Justice Brown for a 26-yard fourth-down touchdown pass.
