Buffalo's longtime defensive back said he knew Gardner-Johnson and the Bills weren't a good match before training camp at St. John Fisher University had even concluded this past summer.

Former Buffalo Bills All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer stated he was not surprised by the team's decision to release veteran safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson ahead of Week 9. Appearing on CBS Sports' Just Football, Poyer explained that he foresaw issues dating back to summer training camp, citing Gardner-Johnson livestreaming and an apparent disconnect in on-field communication and scheme fit alongside young safety Cole Bishop.
The Buffalo Bills moved on from Gardner-Johnson under head coach Joe Brady and defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard as they head into the second half of the season. General manager Brandon Beane now faces the decision of whether to rely on current roster options or acquire a new safety before the upcoming November 10 trade deadline.
