Detroit Red Wings goaltender Daniil Tarasov has posted impressive individual statistics despite the team's struggling results. Through seven appearances and five starts, Tarasov has recorded a .930 save percentage, a 1.79 goals against average, and one shutout, but holds just a 2-2-2 record.
Writer Todd Matthews argues that Detroit's offensive struggles at 5-on-5 have prevented Tarasov's strong performances from translating into victories. The Red Wings have scored only 30 goals on 34.9 expected goals for at full strength, leaving them tied for last place in the Atlantic Division.
