Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews voiced his frustration following a 3-2 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators on Thursday night. After hitting the post at 1:42 of overtime, Toews was penalized for hooking Steven Stamkos just moments later. Stamkos subsequently scored the game-winning power-play goal on a one-timer, sealing Colorado's second consecutive defeat.
Following the game, Toews declined to discuss the penalty, stating, "I'm not going to talk about it. They call it, and we lose the game." Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar noted progress in the team's defensive commitment following a previous 7-2 loss to Columbus, while Stamkos's power-play goal moved him into a tie for fifth on the NHL's all-time list.
