Edmonton might not be in a rebuild, but a potential push for an up-and-coming forward was just made a lot easier.

Noah Guttman reports that the Edmonton Oilers' chances of trading for Washington Capitals forward Ivan Miroshnichenko may improve based on Washington's trade preferences. According to reports from The Fourth Period and insider Jeff Marek, the Capitals prefer to trade Miroshnichenko outside the Eastern Conference, seeking a return centered on a top draft pick or a prospect.
Guttman argues this scenario benefits Edmonton because the Oilers could potentially meet Washington's asking price using future draft capital without surrendering current roster players. Other reported suitors for the forward include the Ottawa Senators, Los Angeles Kings, and Vancouver Canucks.
