The 2026 MLB season is over, and a long and uncertain offseason has begun, but the pain of the Cleveland Guardians falling just shy of reaching the World Series again is still very real. It’s going to take a while…

MLB Network analyst Dan Plesac named Cleveland Guardians pitchers Cade Smith and Gavin Williams among his top 10 most impactful pitchers of the 2026 postseason. Smith and Williams were ranked sixth and seventh respectively following Cleveland's playoff run that fell just short of the World Series. Aaron Ashby topped Plesac's list, followed by Michael King and Bryan Baker.
Williams posted a 2.16 ERA with 33 strikeouts across 16.2 innings in four postseason appearances for Cleveland. Out of the bullpen, Smith delivered a 2.38 ERA over 11.1 innings across nine playoff outings, lowering his career postseason WHIP to 0.61.
