Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney announced in a joint statement on Friday that Williamson was leaving the club after two years at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney attended their club's 1-1 Championship draw against Wolves at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday. The visit came directly after the announcement that chief executive Michael Williamson had departed the club after two years, with director Shaun Harvey taking over as interim CEO.
During the match, Reynolds was seen speaking with former Wrexham player James McClean in the stands. On the pitch, Wolves opened the scoring in the 25th minute before Lewis O'Brien equalized for Phil Parkinson's side, leaving Wrexham in 15th place in the Championship table.
