Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle described his team's 1-1 draw against Fulham as a step in the right direction. Jacob Murphy appeared to secure a victory for Newcastle with a long-range goal in the 80th minute, but Fulham quickly equalized when Rodrigo Muniz scored via deflections off Dan Burn past goalkeeper Hornicek.
Speaking after the match, Jaissle praised Murphy's overall performance and expressed frustration over a disallowed goal by Burn and his own late yellow card. He noted the result provides a foundation to build on as the team heads into the international break.
