Returning to the city where he became a basketball icon was always going to carry emotional significance…
LeBron James struggled in his return to Cleveland as the Philadelphia 76ers fell 119-95 to the Cleveland Cavaliers in an NBA Cup matchup. Despite a warm reception and a highlight pregame dunk, James managed only eight points on 3-for-12 shooting in 31 minutes. The defeat handed him one of the lowest-scoring regular-season performances of his professional career.
Unlike past visits, the Cavaliers did not show a tribute video for James, and he heard scattered boos from the crowd during live play. The game marked just the 10th time in 1,630 regular-season appearances that James finished with fewer than 10 points. James committed six turnovers before checking out late in the fourth quarter.
