Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar has criticized the BCCI for eliminating the toss in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy over the past two seasons. Speaking to The Times of India, Vengsarkar urged the Indian cricket board to restore the traditional toss starting next season, arguing that it brings excitement and a necessary dimension to cricket matches.
The BCCI scrapped the toss in May 2024 under then-secretary Jay Shah to discourage home teams from curating spin-friendly tracks. In response, Vengsarkar maintained that conditions remain identical for both teams and that fielding a balanced side allows players to adapt regardless of the pitch.
