Beleaguered Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel will call plays from the coaches' box instead of the sideline against the Houston Texans.

Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel announced he will call plays from the coaches' box instead of the sideline against the Houston Texans. McDaniel hopes the elevated view will help spark an offense that has failed to score a touchdown in its last two games. Head coach Jim Harbaugh fully endorsed the adjustment ahead of Sunday's matchup at SoFi Stadium.
The winless 0-7 Chargers currently rank last in the NFL in scoring at 14.1 points per game and lead the league with 17 turnovers. Quarterback Justin Herbert has thrown an NFL-high 10 interceptions this season. McDaniel last called plays from the booth during his 2021 season with the San Francisco 49ers.
