Inter Miami star Lionel Messi had a busy year, but still managed to score more goals than any other MLS player.

Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has won his second consecutive MLS Golden Boot award, finishing the 2026 regular season with 26 goals. The achievement marks the first time in Major League Soccer history that a player has claimed back-to-back scoring titles. The milestone was confirmed following Inter Miami's 3-3 draw against Charlotte FC on the final day of the regular season.
Despite surrendering a three-goal halftime lead in the finale, Inter Miami finished second in the Eastern Conference to set up a playoff matchup with the Columbus Crew. Messi, who also contributed 14 assists while playing a personal-record 31 regular-season matches, led Miami to the postseason as Nashville SC claimed the Supporters' Shield with a league-record 77 points.
