Over the previous two matchups with Carolina and Atlanta, tight end Cade Otton’s blocking efficiency has created creases for Tampa Bay’s running backs, spurring the team’s ground juggernaut…

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton has become an integral factor in fueling the team's top-ranked rushing offense. The Buccaneers set a franchise record with 324 rushing yards against the Atlanta Falcons in Week Eight, following consecutive high-output games against Carolina and Dallas. Otton's versatile run blocking from the line of scrimmage, slot, perimeter, and backfield has generated crucial space for running backs Bucky Irving and Kenny Gainwell.
Entering Week Nine, Otton is tied for the NFL lead in run-blocking snaps among tight ends with 223, while ranking sixth in run-blocking grade at 68.1 according to PFF. Tight ends coach Justin Peelle and quarterback Baker Mayfield praised Otton's scheme intelligence, adaptability, and technique, which allow the Buccaneers to dictate matchups and run versatile schemes without constantly substituting personnel.
