Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jacob Fowler experienced an unusual interruption when a fake green apple was thrown onto the ice during a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Referee T.J. Luxmore retrieved the object and jokingly showed it to Fowler during a stoppage in play with around 8:30 remaining in the second period.
The incident did not disrupt Fowler, who made 26 saves to lead Montreal to a 4-2 win at Scotiabank Arena. Zachary Bolduc scored an insurance goal on the power play, helping the rookie netminder improve his season record to 8-1-1 through 10 starts.
