Brazilian was one of Chelsea’s standout performers in the win over Manchester United last week…
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso dropped Brazilian winger Estevao to the bench for the Premier League fixture against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Pundit Daniel Sturridge suggested the decision was driven by Alonso wanting more steel and defensive stability in midfield. Estevao had impressed during Chelsea's previous 2-0 win over Manchester United.
Jordan Henderson returned to the starting lineup against his former club to form a midfield trio alongside Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. Additionally, defender Josh Acheampong was left out of the squad, with Pep Chavarria entering the starting eleven and Marco Palestra shifting to the right side of defense.
