The Nationals have an opportunity to add some interesting arms this offseason, and one pitcher I want to see them take a look at is Kris Bubic. The 29-year-old left-hander has struggled to stay healthy, but when he’s been on…

Writer Paul Cubbage argues that free-agent left-hander Kris Bubic would be an ideal offseason target for the Washington Nationals rotation or bullpen. The 29-year-old pitcher was an All-Star in 2025 with the Kansas City Royals, posting a 2.55 ERA over 20 starts before being sidelined by a rotator cuff strain. In 2026, he logged a 3.76 ERA across 55 innings split between Kansas City and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Cubbage notes that while Bubic carries notable injury risk following Tommy John surgery and multiple arm issues, his swing-and-miss arsenal offers significant upside. ESPN's Kiley McDaniel projects Bubic to command a two-year, $18 million contract on the open market.
