Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn plans to match new lightweight signing Haven Brady Jr against the winner of Corey Marksman versus Christian Barreto. Brady faces Bryan Jimenez on 28 August in Orlando before potentially stepping up to championship level.
The 24-year-old American prospect recently signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Matchroom after building an undefeated professional record of 17-0 with seven knockouts. Brady currently trains under Bozy Ennis in Philadelphia, entering the promotional roster following direct recommendations from his gym environment.
Hearn credited both Bozy Ennis and world champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis for alerting Matchroom to the fighter’s ability: “Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Bozy and the guys in The Dungeon in Philly have told us that this young man is the real deal, and we’re going to give him every opportunity to prove that,”
Brady makes his promotional debut in an eight-round contest against Jimenez at Caribe Royale in Orlando. Jimenez, a Nicaraguan boxer who holds an 18-4 record with 10 knockouts, provides an immediate challenge on the undercard.
The event marks the launch of the Matchroom and DAZN Project Series, placing three developing lightweights on the same show. The card is headlined by Marksman versus Barreto, with the WBA Continental Americas and WBO Global lightweight belts on the line. Marksman enters with a 13-0-1 record featuring nine knockouts, while Barreto carries a 15-0 record with nine stoppages.
Hearn explained the concept behind the event structure: “Getting Haven on our first Project Series card in Orlando is exactly what this new venture is designed for – giving the next generation of stars a platform to strut their stuff, and a potential fight between Haven and the winner of the main event could well be next,”
That target turns Brady’s debut against Jimenez into more than a simple introductory bout. If Brady secures victory, he will remain ringside in Orlando to watch the main event winners contend for his next potential fight.
