Gastón Irazú Dominates CTMP Sprint to Extend F4 U.S. Title Lead

Gastón Irazú bagged a decisive Race 3 victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, extending his F4 U.S. championship lead to 66 points.

Gastón Irazú claimed victory in Race 3 of the Formula 4 United States Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The Uruguayan star extended his championship lead to 66 points following two previous second-place finishes during the Labour Day weekend.

Gastón Irazú finally got his moment of glory. After finishing second twice over the weekend, the Uruguayan driver nailed the start from pole position, leading the pack straight into Turn 1 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Cole Medeiros tucked right behind into second place while the rest of the pack fought hard for track position. Luca Day went wheel-to-wheel with Caleb Campbell for third, while Clemente Huerta Raab pressured Zach Fourie further down the grid. Irazú, Medeiros, and Campbell ran nose to tail during the tense opening stages.

Then chaos struck. Fernando Rivera spun out, triggering a full-course safety car restart that bunched up the entire field again.

Medeiros glued himself to Irazú’s rear wing as the green flag waved. But a slight twitch entering Turn 9 allowed Irazú to break free and build a vital gap. Behind them, Fourie stalked Campbell for five laps before pulling off a clinical overtake on his teammate to snag third spot. Irazú stormed across the finish line ahead of Medeiros, Fourie, Campbell, and Huerta Raab.

The dominant victory blew open his title charge. Entering the weekend with a tight 37-point cushion, Irazú leaves Canada with a massive 66-point lead.

Irazú was ecstatic in victory lane.

“It feels really great to win today,” said the race winner. “I’m really happy with my team [Champagne Racing] and all my sponsors. They gave me a great car; a really fast car. This win is for them. We got the win and good points for the championship, so it’s really great. Thank you to my team, my sponsors, my family and all the people who came here to support me. Also, thank you to my girlfriend and all the people who are always with me.”

The title fight now moves to VIRginia International Raceway in two weeks for the penultimate round of the 2026 season. Irazú has total control of the championship, but his rivals will be desperate to strike back before the season ends.
