Titleist has added its next-generation Pro V1 and Pro V1x prototype golf balls to the USGA Conforming List. Featuring new Split Arrow alignment prints and side ‘TOUR’ markings, these 2027 models are set for immediate professional testing across major global tours.
Gear heads take notice. Titleist is moving fast. Fresh off their Monday landing on the USGA equipment register, the iconic brand is rolling out its next flagship balls early. The fresh prototypes stick to familiar color coding. Black numbers stamp the low-spinning Pro V1, while red numbers mark the higher-launching Pro V1x. But the new side-stamp details signal something bigger. Tour validation is starting right now. Players are expected to put these prototypes in play this week at the Biltmore Championship and the DP World Tour’s BMW PGA Championship.
The timing fits perfectly. Titleist operates on a strict two-year launch cycle.
With the current line hitting shelves back in January 2025, rival brands like TaylorMade and Callaway have pushed their own premium TP5 and Chrome Tour offerings. Titleist needs to answer back. These new models join an elite stable of Tour-only variations, including the Pro V1 Plus, Pro V1 Star, Pro V1 Dot, and Pro V1x Double Dot. Tour players have already converted those special builds into silverware. Cameron Young famously bagged The Players Championship swinging the Double Dot prototype.
While these prototypes remain strictly for tour pros, retail release routes often follow ground testing. Premium spin-offs like the Pro V1x Left Dash made the jump to retail counters after four years on tour, while the Pro V1 Left Dot saw a limited consumer run. Titleist keeps its developmental pipeline tight, but these USGA listings mark the official start of the 2027 retail rollout.
