The St. Louis Cardinals have nominated outfielder Jordan Walker for the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award, recognizing his off-field philanthropic work alongside a breakout season. Walker co-founded the Walker’s Winners Foundation and frequently supports St. Louis community programs.
On the field, Walker has established himself as a primary offensive contributor in the St. Louis lineup this season. The young outfielder won the 2026 Home Run Derby and remains on pace to reach 30 home runs and 20 stolen bases, displaying notable mechanical growth with higher exit velocity and consistent barrel rates. Still, his impact on the franchise extends well past his physical production.
Off the field, his philanthropic initiatives focus heavily on educational support and youth empowerment. Alongside his mother, Walker co-founded the Walker’s Winners Foundation, a charitable organization created to help students establish and attain personal goals. He also conducted his third annual visit to Lifewise STL, working directly with young scholars in the local area.
Following his Home Run Derby victory, Walker highlighted his primary goal off the diamond. “I want to be a role model for the black kids,” Walker said. “I want more black kids in baseball.”
The nomination provides Walker a chance to become the seventh player in franchise history to secure the honor. St. Louis currently holds the Major League Baseball record with six total winners. Hall of Famer Lou Brock was the first Cardinal to receive the award in 1975, followed by shortstop Ozzie Smith in 1995. In recent decades, Albert Pujols in 2008, Carlos Beltran in 2013, Yadier Molina in 2018, and Adam Wainwright in 2020 further built that organization-wide precedent.
Utility player Brendan Donovan was the team’s nominee last year. The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Boston Red Sox remain the closest competitors behind St. Louis with five recipients each. If selected, Walker would cap a remarkable 2026 campaign while extending the club’s record for Roberto Clemente Award winners.
