Queensberry promoter Frank Warren has announced that heavyweight Moses Itauma is expected to make his ring return very early next year. The 21-year-old suffered his first professional defeat last month, losing to Filip Hrgovic via a ninth-round stoppage for the vacant IBF heavyweight title. Despite scoring a second-round knockdown, Itauma reportedly ran out of gas before being stopped on his feet.
Warren expressed frustration over reports that Itauma felt he needed a knockout to feel like a true champion. The promoter plans to meet with Itauma's team to implement serious changes regarding his preparation and pacing. Meanwhile, Hrgovic is expected to defend his newly won IBF title against mandatory challenger Frank Sanchez.
