The New Orleans Saints quickly integrated defensive lineman Colby Wooden into their lineup after claiming him off waivers on August 31, 2026. Wooden was active for the season opener against the Detroit Lions, while defensive linemen Khristian Boyd and John Ridgeway III were both inactive. Wooden played 18 defensive snaps and recorded two tackles in his debut.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore praised Wooden's preparation and versatility across the defensive line. Moore noted that Wooden's extensive starting experience with Green Bay last season helped ease his transition. Wooden was originally a fourth-round draft selection by Green Bay before a brief stint with the Indianapolis Colts.
