Ausar Thompson Creates NBA History With Twin Brother Amen After Pistons’ $155M Decision

Detroit Pistons forward Ausar Thompson has agreed to a five-year, $155 million rookie-scale contract extension. This deal follows a five-year, $208 million extension signed by his twin brother, Amen Thompson, with the Houston Rockets earlier this month. The agreements make them the first pair of brothers in NBA history to each receive a $100 million contract.

Ausar Thompson's fully guaranteed extension comes after a standout season where he made first-team All-Defense and finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting. He averaged nearly 10 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game last season. The twins previously made history in 2023 by becoming the first twins drafted in the top five of the NBA draft.
