By: Ben Dixon Matteo Gabbia’s stock has fallen at AC Milan this season and it seems that he’ll face a substantial challenge to regain his place. Ruben Amorim’s defence this season has been pretty unchanged – barring the Benfica game…

AC Milan defender Matteo Gabbia faces a difficult challenge to regain his starting spot under manager Ruben Amorim. Gabbia was a regular starter under former manager Massimiliano Allegri but has fallen out of favor this season. An injury sidelined the Italian defender, allowing teammate Koni De Winter to secure a starting role in Amorim's preferred lineup.
Reports suggest Gabbia's technical abilities may not suit Amorim's 3-4-2-1 tactical system. De Winter has become the preferred choice due to his versatility in defense and midfield. While Amorim previously praised Gabbia for representing Milan's values, the defender now faces a tough task to win back his place.
