3 Real Madrid players with a point to prove vs Atletico Madrid

Real Madrid are preparing to face Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby during the early stages of the 2026/27 LaLiga season. Real Madrid currently hold a narrow two-point lead over their cross-town rivals, with both teams entering the match following back-to-back victories. The high-stakes fixture is being highlighted as a crucial opportunity for several players to establish their form under manager Jose Mourinho.

Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior is noted as one of the key players needing to prove himself after a slow start to the campaign. He has scored only one goal in seven matches so far this season and has struggled with finishing chances. The match is seen as a vital opportunity for him to regain his form.
