Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the season with a 5-3 win over Sunderland but the game was far from plain sailing

Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season with a 5-3 victory over Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium. Despite securing their seventh consecutive victory since their Community Shield loss, manager Enzo Maresca was visibly animated and frustrated on the touchline regarding his team's lack of control during the chaotic contest.
Manchester City surrendered an expected goals (xG) tally of 4.15 to Sunderland's attack, led by Brian Brobbey, conceding three home goals for the first time in 18 months. Following the match, Maresca stated in his press conference that he would prefer winning 1-0 rather than 5-3 as City head into a three-week international break.
