Ajit Agarkar, VVS Laxman had differences over CoE functioning, nearly clashed in BCCI meeting

Indian men's cricket team chief selector Ajit Agarkar is reportedly facing uncertainty over a contract extension due to differences with Center of Excellence head VVS Laxman. Agarkar's contract is nearing its official end ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. Tensions between the former teammates reportedly intensified over team-building processes during recent player injury crises.

Agarkar recently skipped a Board of Control for Cricket in India review meeting, which was called to discuss the national team's poor performances against Ireland and England. Reports suggest his absence may have prevented a direct confrontation with Laxman. Additionally, both Laxman and head coach Gautam Gambhir reportedly clashed over the selection of all-rounder Washington Sundar for their respective squads.
