Junior World Championship 2026 Player of the Year, Haashim Pead has left one South African team for another on the eve of the new United Rugby Championship season.

Scrum-half Haashim Pead has officially left the Lions to join the DHL Stormers ahead of the new United Rugby Championship season. The 2026 Junior World Championship Player of the Year scored six tries during the Junior Springboks' title-winning campaign in Georgia, but faced limited playing time in Johannesburg behind Morne van den Berg and Nico Steyn.
The Stormers signed Pead as depth behind Cobus Reinach following an ACL injury to Imad Khan. Pead previously earned a call-up to Rassie Erasmus's Springbok alignment camp for the 2025/26 season after being named the 2025 Junior Player of the Year.
