Instead of depicting Lowry's actual likeness, the statue features a giant golden Raptors dinosaur mascot wearing his No. 7 jersey.
Fans and media members, including ESPN's Vincent Goodwill, questioned the decision to use the mascot's head rather than the player's face. Additionally, observers pointed out a formatting error with unnecessary spacing on the nameplate, which reads "The Greatest Raptor of All Time."
