How Ferrari mechanics made Lewis Hamilton feel at home before his Maranello move

Lewis Hamilton has revealed how an unexpected gesture from Ferrari mechanics at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix made him feel welcome long before his move to the Italian team. After finishing third at Marina Bay, Hamilton arrived in parc ferme to find many of his Mercedes crew absent, as they were recovering George Russell's crashed car. Ferrari mechanics stepped in to congratulate and celebrate with him instead.

Hamilton shared that this gesture left a lasting impression and is a moment he has always cherished. At the time, Hamilton was still driving for Mercedes and had not yet agreed to his Ferrari switch, which was finalized between the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He also noted that Ferrari personnel would regularly encourage him to join them when he passed their garage.
