Jaime Munguía Ordered Into Bektemir Melikuziev Defense

The WBA has ordered super middleweight champion Jaime Mungua to make a mandatory title defense against Bektemir Melikuziev. Both promotional camps have been given until October 21 to reach an agreement for the bout. If the two sides fail to negotiate a deal before the deadline, the sanctioning body will send the fight to a purse bid.

Mungua, who holds a record of 46-2 with 35 KOs, won the title by defeating Jose Armando Resendiz on May 2. Melikuziev, a 2016 Olympic silver medalist with a 17-1 record, is considered a dangerous challenger due to his southpaw power and heavy body punching.
