Regulatory changes agreed at latest F1 Commission meeting

The Formula 1 Commission agreed on multiple regulatory changes for the 2026 and 2027 seasons during a meeting in London chaired by Nikolas Tombazis and Stefano Domenicali. Among the key updates for 2027 is a reduction in total race distance from 305km to 290km, which aligns with fuel flow refinements under future Power Unit rules.

The Commission also decided to remove the overall three-hour maximum window for disrupted races, instead implementing a hard stop time while retaining the two-hour actual racing limit. Additionally, gearbox homologation will be eliminated for 2027 to preserve development freedom, with all adjustments awaiting World Motor Sport Council approval.
