Brighton first, Man Utd in top four? The Premier League xG table after five weeks

After five weeks of the 2026/27 Premier League season, Brighton leads the expected goals (xG) table with 11.49xG, boosted by a 5-0 win over Coventry City. Manchester City ranks second, followed by Brentford, Manchester United, and Sunderland to round out the top five. Arsenal ranks sixth in generated xG but holds the best defensive record with a league-low 4.04 expected goals conceded (xGC).

Liverpool remains unbeaten under manager Andoni Iraola with 8.34xG, while Ipswich Town ranks mid-table with 7.72xG, ahead of Xabi Alonso's Chelsea in 12th. Chelsea also struggles defensively, sitting 15th in xGC. Meanwhile, Matthias Jaissle's Newcastle United ranks in the bottom five for both xG and xGC, and Tottenham Hotspur has produced just 1xG per game.
