Kyogo Furuhashi’s nightmare has continued since Birmingham City exit

Kyogo Furuhashi struggled during his time at Birmingham City after signing in the summer of 2025. Following a goalless spell at Rennes, the former Celtic striker faced difficulties converting opportunities in the Championship, finishing the campaign having missed 12 big chances. Manager Chris Davies eventually relegated him in the pecking order behind options such as Jay Stansfield, Marvin Ducksch, and new arrival August Priske.

The Japanese forward made his final start for Birmingham City against Swansea City on January 17 before undergoing shoulder surgery in March. The club was open to offers for the striker ahead of the summer window, with interest subsequently emerging from MLS.
