Gianni Infantino outlines FIFA reform plans in letter to member associations

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has detailed plans to reform world football's governing body in a letter distributed to all 211 member associations and FIFA Council members. Infantino's proposals follow significant pressure to resign after abandoning plans to sell a 20 percent stake in FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup, to private investors. UEFA, CONCACAF, and the Asian confederation had led calls demanding his resignation.

Despite the controversy, the 56-year-old reiterated his intention to seek re-election and affirmed his commitment to leading the organization. Infantino proposed having the FIFA Council consider commissioning an independent external review of FIFA's governance framework for strategic initiatives, alongside launching a structured consultation with confederations and stakeholders regarding organizational decision-making processes.
