The NY Islanders may have picked up a sleeper with their 2026 5th round pick

The New York Islanders addressed their need for right-handed defensemen in the 2026 NHL Draft by selecting Vladimir Dravecky in the fifth round. After missing development camp due to visa issues, Dravecky impressed the organization during training camp and made an immediate impact in his first preseason appearance against the New Jersey Devils.

During the exhibition contest, Dravecky skated on the top power-play unit and recorded the primary assist on New York's lone goal, setting up Cole Eiserman for a one-timer. Head coach Pete DeBoer praised the young defenseman's performance and puck-moving ability following the game.
