Jordan Poole faces an uncertain future ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season after a difficult first year with the New Orleans Pelicans. During the 2025-26 campaign, Poole averaged 13.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists across 39 appearances while shooting 37.2% from the field. With a crowded backcourt that includes Dejounte Murray, Jeremiah Fears, and newly signed Bennedict Mathurin, Poole's role has diminished heading into the final year of his $34.0 million contract.
While trade prospects remain complicated due to his high salary, an eventual contract buyout could open up new opportunities for the 27-year-old guard. A hypothetical destination explored is the New York Knicks, who are coming off an NBA championship campaign. Joining New York could allow Poole to serve as a low-pressure scoring option off the bench alongside reserve guard Miles McBride.
