The NRL has reportedly decided against booking a musical entertainment act for this year's grand final. Reports indicated that a planned ten-minute musical performance was projected to cost more than one million dollars before the decision was made to drop it.

Host broadcaster Channel Nine reportedly argued that musical acts help attract casual viewers to the broadcast. The decision comes as the rival Australian Football League booked Kylie Minogue to perform at their upcoming season decider.
