The Seattle Kraken have announced that 19-year-old center prospect Jake O’Brien is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Head coach Lane Lambert confirmed to broadcaster Mike Benton that the absence is precautionary. The issue is the same injury that previously sidelined O’Brien during Seattle's rookie camp, and it will likely keep him out of the remaining preseason games.
Before the setback, O’Brien recorded a goal and an assist in Seattle's preseason opener against the Vancouver Canucks. Selected eighth overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, the former Brantford Bulldogs center is competing with Oscar Fisker Molgaard and Ben Meyers for a spot ahead of the October 1 regular-season opener.
