The uncertainty surrounding Martin O’Neill’s Celtic future has taken another fascinating turn – and respected journalist Stephen McGowan
Journalist Stephen McGowan has reported that Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond has no intention of sacking manager Martin O'Neill. Speaking on BBC Scotland's Scottish Football Podcast, McGowan stated that any potential departure would be entirely down to O'Neill himself, following the club's 1-0 defeat to Rangers.
O'Neill previously admitted that he plans to reflect on his future during the international break, while Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson has publicly offered his support. McGowan also characterized Celtic as a slightly dysfunctional club, citing structural issues including the absence of a director of football.
