I figured this would be Max Scherzer’s last MLB start, but the Jays are talking about having him start (on short rest). I don’t see the point. Why would that be an idea? Is it some idea he can pass…

The Toronto Blue Jays are opening a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles with right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer on the mound against Chris Bassitt. Despite initial expectations that Vladimir Guerrero would sit out the opening contest, he was added to the starting lineup batting second and playing first base.
Several additional players, including Yohendrick Pinango, Chase Lee, CJ Van Eyk, and John Klein, are currently with the team as potential active additions for game two. Pitcher Max Scherzer enters the game sitting 10 strikeouts behind Justin Verlander for eighth place on the MLB all-time strikeout list.
