Boyd backs ‘mature’ Hull star McBurnie to lead the line for Pocognoli’s new-look Scotland

Former Scotland striker Kris Boyd has backed Hull City forward Oli McBurnie to start as the central striker under new manager Sebastien Pocognoli. With Che Adams sidelined by injury, Boyd stated that McBurnie deserves an international recall for the upcoming Nations League quadruple-header, beginning with Saturday's trip to Slovenia.

McBurnie previously made 16 appearances for Scotland between 2018 and 2021 without scoring under Steve Clarke. However, he scored 19 goals across all competitions last season during Hull's promotion campaign and has remained a key starter in the Premier League. Boyd also singled out Stoke City defender Luke Graham as a promising inclusion in Pocognoli's squad.
